Homestudy

After the whole Taiwan clearance fiasco, we are finished with our homestudy.  Of course the agency has to get together in Boise to sign it.  What a nightmare.  At any rate.... in the next week or so our documents should be off to the USCIS (immigration) for approval.  We then wait for an "invitation" to be fingerprinted, await clearance, get the letter of approval, send all the documents we have gathered to Boise for state approval.  Then send them to a nice lady in Washington DC who, for a fee, will drive our docs to the US State Dept, pick them up a few days later, drive them to the Chinese Consulate, pick them up four days later, and mail them back to me.  When these docs come back to me I will add the required pictures and other non-notarized documents and send them to our adoption agency in Colorado.  There they will translate the docs and mail to China.  Then.... we wait.

Sounds like a lot??  If I explained all the stuff you have to do just to get the homestudy completed (including our weekend to Boise to attend a 10 hour class on parenting).... well... it'd probably seriously discourage the newbie from wanting to ever adopt.  Ridiculous if you ask me.

How many hoops does a teenage kid have to go through to get pregnant underage?? Where is their social worker??  Sorry if that sounds offensive, but really....

Seth, we're coming as fast as we can.

Seth will be waiting and God has His hand on him so don't worry! Just keep truckin along! Funny about the 10 parenting class - do you get to take the 3 that you already parent with you as extra credit!???!!! xoxoxxo

Amen on the comment regarding teen parenting! If our country would require as much time and effort (and testing) to become a parent as they do to drive a car, this whole planet would be better off. We live in an era where it's profitable (thanks to the government dole) to be pregnant out of wedlock. What a dark abyss we are sliding into...

I check in once in a while to see what's up with our old travel mates to Hunan - and I was so happy to see you're adopting again! He's such a beautiful child and so lucky to end up with such a wonderful forever family. Congratulations!!!
